You turned into a prison.  Have you ever been to prison or a lockup for the night?   How about a probationary period or jail?  No, that will never happen to you, right?  You think there is a thickening line between good and evil.  You're not the same as a criminal.  Yet here you are, stuck in this madness.

I came from a place so cold.  You embraced me in your arms when I had nobody.  I did some stupid things, and played the fool more than once, twice, or even three times.  Still, you were there for me, so I embraced you back.

I let myself fall in love with you.

Two years go by.  Everything has changed.  You treat me like a maid and your stepping stool.  You became selfish and greedy.  I became weak and needy.  I heard you were embracing others.  Did you ever really need me?

Here I am in paradoxical Hell.  Running on a treadmill chasing you, but I'll wear myself out before I'll catch you.  When I collapsed no one was there to catch me, all you did was kick me.  God, why am I staying here?  Why am I with you?  I forgot why I'm with you.

I walk the streets and these roads.  Being with you requires a toll.  You cost an arm and a leg.  You require my body, mind, and soul.  Still I say I love you..... why?

Look at all the things I gave up for you.  I can't be sad.  I must show restraint.  Detroit, it's over, we're done.  I can't be with someone who takes me for granted and doesn't love me back.  I'm not taking this anymore Michigan.  I'm not taking this from you or Detroit anymore.

Someday I will make my return, with metaphorical stacked ammo and grenades.  I'll help take the reins over you on that not too distant day.  But until that day, I just have to go raise my daughter and give my wife a good life.  Detroit, it is time for us to part and say goodbye.

Detroit, this messed up obsessive relationship we're in is over.  I'm either ending it or I'm going to take control of it.  There is nothing you could ever say or do to stop me.  Nobody's going to stop us now.

Now, we all must still just let it go
